Myofascial Release
Fascia is a network of connective tissue surrounding muscles and other structures throughout the body. Changes in tissue sensitivity or movement can sometimes contribute to feelings of tightness or restriction. Myofascial release uses controlled hands-on techniques directed towards areas of soft tissue restriction.
At Nova, we use this approach as part of an individualised physiotherapy plan where it is considered appropriate. Your assessment helps identify areas that may benefit from hands-on treatment, while your overall movement, symptoms and functional needs remain central to the treatment plan.
How We Treat Myofascial Release
Rather than applying the same technique to everyone, your physiotherapist first evaluates your movement and identifies areas that may be contributing to your symptoms or restrictions. This assessment helps guide the choice of technique and treatment area.
The treatment involves sustained, controlled pressure and gentle hands-on techniques applied to selected soft tissues. Techniques and pressure are adapted according to your comfort and response. Where appropriate, myofascial techniques can be combined with mobility exercises, strengthening and movement advice to address your wider rehabilitation needs.
