Skin Tag Removal
Skin tags are small, generally harmless growths that commonly develop in areas where skin rubs against skin or clothing. Although they are usually benign, it is important that a skin lesion is assessed appropriately before removal rather than assuming that every growth is a skin tag.
At Nova, we begin with a clinical assessment of the area you would like to have treated. If the lesion appears suitable for removal, your practitioner will discuss the available approach, what the procedure involves and the expected aftercare. If there is any uncertainty about the nature of a lesion, you may be advised to seek further medical assessment before proceeding.
How We Treat Skin Tag Removal
Assessment comes first. Your practitioner examines the skin tag and discusses relevant medical history before deciding whether removal is appropriate within the clinic.
Where suitable, the skin tag can be removed using an appropriate technique based on its size, location and characteristics. Your practitioner will explain the procedure beforehand and provide instructions for caring for the area afterwards. As with any procedure involving the skin, there can be risks such as bleeding, infection, scarring or changes in pigmentation, which will be discussed as appropriate.
